A Simple Bias Correction Scheme in Ocean Data Assimilation

چکیده
The mode bias is present and time-dependent due to imperfect configurations. Data assimilation the process by which observations are used correct model forecast, affected bias. How reduce an important issue. This paper investigates roles of a simple correction scheme in ocean data assimilation. In this scheme, misfits between modeled monthly temperature salinity with interannual variability from Met Office Hadley Centre subsurface set (EN4.2.2) for innovations via Ensemble Optimal Interpolation method. Two experiments implemented evaluate impacts correction. first experiment system without second experiment, applied For comparison, nature run no also conducted. When not applied, alone leads rising trend heat salt content that found observations. It spurious temporal effect on Meanwhile, produces significant negative salinity. performs best notable improvements over results other two experiments.

متن کاملRegional ocean data assimilation.
This article reviews the past 15 years of developments in regional ocean data assimilation. A variety of scientific, management, and safety-related objectives motivate marine scientists to characterize many ocean environments, including coastal regions. As in weather prediction, the accurate representation of physical, chemical, and/or biological properties in the ocean is challenging. Models a...
متن کاملA Reanalysis of Ocean Climate Using Simple Ocean Data Assimilation (SODA)
This paper describes the Simple Ocean Data Assimilation (SODA) reanalysis of ocean climate variability. In the assimilation, a model forecast produced by an ocean general circulation model with an average resolution of 0.25° 0.4° 40 levels is continuously corrected by contemporaneous observations with corrections estimated every 10 days. The basic reanalysis, SODA 1.4.2, spans the 44-yr period ...

متن کاملA comparative study of quantitative mapping methods for bias correction of ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data
This study evaluates the ability of different quantitative mapping (QM) methods as a bias correction technique for ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data. Climate type and geographical location can affect the performance of the bias correction method due to differences in precipitation characteristics. For this purpose, ERA5 reanalysis precipitation data for the years 1989-2019 for 10 selected syno...
